The Death of Black Cherry

July 19, 2008 · 4 Comments

I am sad to report, the death of Black Cherry.

We bought it over 4 years ago,and man, has it been a good car,. When we first got it, I felt so guilty about trading in the Saturn, it was part of the family. And I felt like Black cherry didn’t like us-all these kids climbing all over it and whatnot. Every time I drove past the dealership, I swear the car wanted to go back. It took a few months, but it finally became OUR car.

And it was a trooper-it has driven to Detroit and back twice, to California countless times. It has taken us to Mt. Rushmore, to Canada and Niagara falls, to Tijuana, Mexico, to Billy the Kids grave and Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois. To Mark Twain’s hometown, and across the Mackinaw Bridge into the U P of Michigan. That car has taken us everywhere.

Alas, it will take us no more. We left for California last Saturday morning, and before we even made it to Vegas, the transmitionĀ  gave out. And on a car that size, to fix it would cost more than the car is worth. So, we are selling the Black Cherry, and will hopefully buy something else soon-maybe a minivan that doesn’t have a 40 gallon gas tank.

I am so sad at the death of Black Cherry, but even more sad for myself, currently being stuck in Utah with no car to take us out of it. It really sucks having no car that will fit our family of 6. Hopefully things will work out, but until then, I will mourn the demise of The Black Cherry.

There are so many more pictures…but I won’t bore you. Be sad, be very sad.

New “Ugliest Dog in the World”

July 12, 2008 · 3 Comments

Ok, so Maggie is usually a pretty dog,and doesn’t really come close to this:

But she does look like some street mongrel. Jay decided to shave her the other night, which in concept is a good idea, since it’s been 108* everyday, and Maggie has thick black fur. The only problem is that he chose to shave her at night, by the glare of a lone light bulb in the garage. So, she now has miscellaneous bald spots, long spots, and stripes. AWESOME. Thank goodness it will grow back!

NICE.

More Birthday Fun

July 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

I thought I’d post a few pictures of Cassi’s actual birthday on Tuesday-we opened presents and went to Jumping Jacks- which the kids LOVED,and I thought was totally bunk. I was expecting a Chuck-E-Cheese’s or something, instead what I got was few rickety chairs and tables shoved into a corner for the parents. I lasted about 2 hours then had to leave. The kids hadĀ  blast though, and Cassi loved her birthday presents from me and Jay. I am SO glad that she still likes Barbies and little girl things. I figure I have maybe 2 more years before she enters teenager land and starts to hate everyone. So,while she likes the Barbies and Hello Kitty,I am so willing to encourage that! Our next birthday is Jack’s 1 year birthday,so I guess I’ll take down the streamers and balloons until then…

It’s a Hello Kitty party!

July 7, 2008 · 1 Comment

We had Cassi’s 10th birthday party Saturday ( her actual birthday isn’t until Tuesday)-complete with a Hello Kitty cake and lots of little girls. We played games, and did a craft, opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Maddie is still here- and was banished to her room for the party. It went great though, The cake turned out awesome , if I do say so myself-and I was pretty pleased with the whole thing :) Like always, I was wiped out afterward…but I’m just glad that no one else got sick! Cassi’s actual birthday will be mellow, we’ll do presents from us and maybe go swimming. I still can’t believe my first born is going to be 10 in 2 more days! I could have sworn I was still about 20.

4th of July

July 6, 2008 · 3 Comments

We spent 4th of July at home-Cassi had gotten sick the night before, so we thought it a good idea to stay in. Madeleine is here from up North and Jay’s friend Dave came over too. After a few hours of Rock Band (we’re obsessed), we BBQ’d gigantic Flintstone sized steaks, had yummy corn on the cob and potatoes-the only bad part about dinner was Maddie violently vomiting halfway through the meal-guess Cassi passed on her bug :( Poor Maddie spent her 4th on my bathroom floor, while we did fireworks in the front yard. It was a pretty mellow day-good friends, good food, and lots and lots of barf. Weeee!

Breaking Dawn

July 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

I know these Stephenie Meyers books are meant as Young Adult novels, but since I still feel, oh, about 23, can I still read them and love them and stroke them and dream about them without being a weirdo? Good. Am currently reading “The Host”-about 1/4 of the way though it and still don’t know what I think… I’ll let you know.

My Yoga Teacher Is Evil and Made Me Break My Thumb

July 2, 2008 · 5 Comments

OK,maybe it’s not broken, but it’s definantly sprained.

I go to yoga every Tuesday and Thursday in my attempt to get the body back that I gave up for Jack. And its good-I enjoy it…for the first half hour, then I hate it for the last half, wondering if it will ever be over. And I hate the teacher, who asked me at my second class the question you NEVER ask a woman. (I’ll let you figure that one out on your own.)

Anyway, said teacher is evil, she does these poses that are impossible for the average human to do, Like the one legged split standing warrior twisted arm thinger.

And the crane, which is what I ate it doing.

Seeing as all my weight was balanced on my hands, when I started wobbling and slowly tilting forward, there was nothing to break my fall, except my face. So,as I plowed into my yoga mat with my face,my thumb, stuck under my body, went SNAP! Whats pretty awesome is that the instructor gasped and yelled “Are you OK!?!” so that everyone turned to look at me,face smooshed into the mat, with my wonky thumb. Awesome.

With her size 2 perfection I already feel like this:

Thats right,a cow doing yoga.

Stupid, dumb yoga teacher.

Hope my thumb isn’t too crooked on Thursday,or I’ll never get back into that damn crane position.
