3 Years Ago…

I wrote the Great American novel.

It took me about a year, but I did it. I called it “Ska Girl” because after all, they say that the first novel is usually autobiographical in one way or another. And I was SO proud of myself! I wrote a book! And I just knew it was going to be a best seller, it would be part of Oprah’s book club and make me a million dollars and I’d be able to support my family through my writing and life would be great! So, I sent out HUNDREDS of letters to literary agents ,and got this:

That’s right, hundreds of rejections letters. But amidst the onslaught in my mailbox, there were 3 letters from agencies wanting my book, wanting to represent me. The agent I truly wanted changed his mind, after telling me he liked my” voice”, he “lost interest”. I was so devastated, but eventually signed with another agency. And then…nothing happened. Nothing.

So, it has now been 3 years, and I couldn’t sleep last night. I started thinking about “Ska Girl”, thinking, that maybe , just maybe, it’s time to get it out again and do SOMETHING with it. As I took it out of my closet and wiped the dust off, I thought, maybe I need to start sending out letters again. Maybe I need to re-read it and re-write some of it and maybe something will happen. I want this so bad-to write. To get my book published. Maybe now is the time.

SO, after finally falling asleep in the wee hours of the morning, I think I’m going to start writing again. I’m going to tweak “Ska Girl”, and then finish writing my 2nd novel , “Strawberry Jam” which I started when pregnant with Jack, and then let fall by the way side after the first 3 chapters.

I can do this! Right?

Happiness Is…

The whole family going to California-

where all 6 Forsyth kids were together for the first time in almost 6 years!

Then we went to the beach with Cassie and Patrick…

Saw all our friends and family…

Dyed Cassi’s hair pink-

And finally came home at 3 am Thursday morning….to find my new tiki mug and owl painting waiting-

Now thats a good time!

So Long Utah!

It is a sad day-my sister Kim has officially left the state, and moved back to California. While I am so happy for her I will be so lonely without her here! Oh sad day! But I guess its not like I’ll never see her again.. I plan on spending my long, hot Utah summer at her house in cool and breezy California. So, I’ll try and look on the bright side. Until then, drive safe, and kn0w I love you!

Buh-Bye Purple Couch!

That’s right…the purple couch has found a new home, and we have bought ourselves a nice brown suede one. I feel like such a grown up,making real furniture purchases, not just something from a thrift stop. We bought our couch at  REAL furniture store! How exciting is that!? Other than our washer and dryer, this is the first real purchase we’ve made. And it made my day. It’s all soft and smooth and clean and nice. So don’t even think of sitting on it!
